Free Key Fob Remote Programming Instructions for a 2014 Chevrolet Impala


Time needed: 5 minutes.


FLIP KEY FOB REMOTE - WITH ONE PROGRAMMED FLIP KEY - NOT APPLICABLE TO PUSH-TO-START VEHICLES/REMOTES
Step-By-Step How To Programming Instructions

  1. Insert Existing Key

    INSERT a working flip key into the Ignition and TURN to the ON/RUN position (just shy of cranking engine).

  2. Remove Key

    TURN the flip key to the OFF/LOCK position and REMOVE it.

  3. Insert NEW Key

    WITHIN 5 seconds, INSERT the NEW flip key into the Ignition and TURN to the ON/RUN position. The security light will turn OFF to indicate successful programming of the flip key.

  4. Exit Programming Mode

    REMOVE the key from the Ignition to finalize programming and EXIT Programming Mode.

  5. Program Additional Remotes

    REPEAT Steps 1-4 for each additional key to be programmed.

  6. Test Remotes

    TEST all remotes. Programming is complete.

FLIP KEY FOB REMOTE - WITHOUT A PROGRAMMED FLIP KEY - NOT APPLICABLE TO PUSH-TO-START VEHICLES/REMOTES
Step-By-Step How To Programming Instructions

  1. Insert New Key

    INSERT the NEW flip key into the Ignition.

  2. Turn Key On

    TURN the flip key to the ON/RUN position (just shy of cranking engine). The security light will turn on to indicate successful entry into Programming Mode.

  3. Wait 10 Minutes

    WAIT 10 minutes until the security light turns OFF.

  4. Turn Key Off

    TURN the Ignition to the OFF/LOCK position.

  5. Turn Key On

    TURN the flip key to the ON/RUN position (just shy of cranking engine). 

  6. Wait 10 Minutes

    WAIT 10 minutes until the security light turns OFF.

  7. Turn Key Off

    TURN the Ignition to the OFF/LOCK position.

  8. Turn Key On

    TURN the flip key to the ON/RUN position (just shy of cranking engine).

  9. Wait 10 Minutes

    WAIT 10 minutes until the security light turns OFF.

  10. Turn Key Off

    TURN the Ignition to the OFF/LOCK position.

  11. Turn Key On

    TURN the Ignition to ON/RUN to finalize successful programming of the flip key.

  12. Exit Programming Mode

    TURN the Ignition to OFF/LOCK and REMOVE REMOVE the key from the Ignition to finalize programming and EXIT Programming Mode.

  13. Program Additional Remotes

    You can program any remaining flip keys using the “Programming WITH a Programmed Flip Key” procedure above.

  14. Test Remotes

    TEST all remotes. Programming is complete.

SMART FLIP KEY FOB REMOTE - WITH ONE PROGRAMMED FLIP KEY
Step-By-Step How To Programming Instructions

  1. Place Programmed Flip Key

    PLACE the programmed smart flip key in the cupholder.

  2. Access Key Lock Cylinder

    REMOVE the key lock cylinder cap from the Driver’s door (to the right of the door handle).

    a. Insert the door key into the slot on the bottom of the cover.
    b. Lift the key upward to remove the cover.

  3. Enter Programming Mode

    INSERT the CUT key of the NEW smart key fob into the key lock cylinder (located on the outside of the Driver’s door to the right of the door handle) AND TURN the key counterclockwise to the UNLOCK position 5 times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Console (DIC) will display “READY FOR REMOTE #2, 3, 4, or 5.”

  4. Program Remote – Step 1

    PLACE the NEW smart flip key in the Transmitter Pocket (refer to Owner’s Manual for location) inside the Center Console.

  5. Program Remote – Step 2

    PRESS the ENGINE START/STOP button. When the smart key is learned, the DIC will display “READY for REMOTE #N.”

  6. Program Remote – Step 3

    REMOVE the smart flip key fob from the Transmitter Pocket and PRESS the UNLOCK button to finalize programming of the remote.

  7. Program Additional Remotes

    REPEAT Steps 4-6 to program any additional smart flip key transmitters.

  8. Exit Programming Mode

    WHEN all additional smart key transmitters have been programmed, PRESS and HOLD the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to EXIT Programming Mode.

  9. Test Remotes

    TEST all remotes. Programming is complete.

Step-By-Step How To Programming Instructions

  1. Access Key Lock Cylinder

    REMOVE the key lock cylinder cap from the Driver’s door (to the right of the door handle).

    a. Insert the door key into the slot on the bottom of the cover.
    b. Lift the key upward to remove the cover.

  2. Enter Programming Mode – Step 1

    INSERT the key of a programmed smart flip key fob into the key lock cylinder AND TURN the key counterclockwise to the UNLOCK position 5 times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Console (DIC) will display “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”

  3. Enter Programming Mode – Step 2

    WAIT 10 minutes until the DIC displays “PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN.”

  4. Enter Programming Mode – Step 3

    PRESS the ENGINE START/STOP button. The DIC will again say “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”

  5. Enter Programming Mode – Step 4

    WAIT 10 minutes until the DIC displays “PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN.”

  6. Enter Programming Mode – Step 5

    PRESS the ENGINE START/STOP button. The DIC will again say “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”

  7. Enter Programming Mode – Step 6

    WAIT 10 minutes until the DIC displays “PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN.”

  8. Enter Programming Mode – Step 7

    PRESS the ENGINE START/STOP button. The DIC should now display “READY FOR REMOTE #1.”

  9. Program Remote – Step 1

    PLACE the NEW smart flip key in the Transmitter Pocket (refer to Owner’s Manual for location) inside the Center Console.

  10. Program Remote – Step 2

    PRESS the ENGINE START/STOP button. When the smart key is learned, the DIC will display “READY for REMOTE #2.”

  11. Program Remote – Step 3

    REMOVE the smart flip key fob from the Transmitter Pocket and PRESS the UNLOCK button to finalize programming of the remote.

  12. Program Additional Remotes

    REPEAT Steps 9-11 to program any additional smart key transmitters.

  13. Exit Programming Mode

    WHEN all additional smart key transmitters have been programmed, PRESS and HOLD the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to EXIT Programming Mode.

  14. Test Remotes

    TEST all remotes. Programming is complete.
